Fausto Dayap Daos
Fausto Dayap Daos is a singer, translation expert, and polyglot who has dedicated his life to the art and community-making of choral singing. A native of the Philippines who immigrated to San Francisco as a child in 1983, Fausto brings a wealth of unique perspectives spanning the globe from east to west. With a vocal range extending from countertenor to baritone, and language skills including fluency in tagalog, french, german, and sung latin and european languages, Fausto displays a unique vocal flexibility ranging from delicate countertenor pirouettes to earthly bel canto vocalizing. He has studied language and choral arts at storied programs such as San Francisco State University, Carleton College, and Ecole Normale Cortot in Paris.
As a singer and member of the San Francisco choral community since 2001, Fausto has sung tenor and countertenor in the San Francisco Symphony, the Golden Gate Men’s Chorus, Counterpoint, the International Orange Chorale of San Francisco, and GAPA Men’s Chorus - the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance. Fausto’s work has circled him in the orbit of great San Francisco musicians, most notably singing under Chanticleer’s Grammy award winning director Joseph Jennings for nearly a decade.
When he’s not singing, Fausto lends his technical prowess and project management skills to positions such as translation coordinator at Lionbridge, as well as supporting the distribution of new content at CBS Interactive, as well as being transcript editor for the In Unison podcast. And when he’s relaxing, he can be found tending to variegated succulents and making a mean adobo chicken. Mabuhay!
